FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
-
Where do your sessions take place?I live in Wānaka, NZ. I love to shoot my outdoor sessions on the surrounding fields or lakes in the area. For newborn sessions I capture you in your home or on location at sunset. Outdoor newborn sessions are some of my favourites! Please note, travel fees may apply.
-
What is your approach? My style is documentary in nature with little posing; however, I will prompt and guide you to get the best out of our session. I like to sit back and observe and let the session flow, this is where I capture all those unique in between moments that make you you. I do my best to make sessions as fun and easy going as possible and always have tricks up my sleeve to keep young children engaged. Most of the time you will be tickling, hugging and just enjoying each other. It's in those moments of just being together that the magic happens.
-
What if the weather looks marginal?I generally only cancel sessions if there is a pretty certain chance of consistent rain and stormy weather. I will keep in touch in the days preceding your session if it is looking like rain and then on the day we will chat through what to expect. I generally cancel a few hours before if I am going to, as so often you will cancel based on the forecast and you end up with blue skies.
-
When should I book our session?I take on a limited number of sessions a week, therefore it is important to get in touch early to secure your desired date. I suggest booking in family sessions at least 4 months in advance, and newborn/fresh 48 at least 4-5 months to be safe.
-
What should we wear?To keep your images timeless I always suggest a neutral colour pallete; cream, white, mauve, blush, sand, olive, grey etc... But most of all you need to be comfortable and feel like yourselves; however, please be aware, what you are wearing and the location will have a significant impact on the overall feel of your photos. Upon confirmation of your booking I will send through a client guide which includes handy tips on what to wear.

What time of the day do you hold your sessions?Outdoor sessions are held at either sunset or sunrise. I generally start these 60 minutes before the sun goes down. This is the best time of day to achieve the results you see in my portfolio. Please note in summer this can mean sessions may sometimes start later than your child's usual bedtime, please don't let this worry you, in my experience children actually love being up and adventuring with their parents on this special occasion and we tend to get even better photos! I do have some spots in Wānaka that are suited to slightly earlier sessions though if a full sunset session is impossible. In home sessions will usually be around 10/10.30am in the morning depending on your location.

But George, what if we are super awks infront of the camera? It would be weird for me if you weren't! The more awkward the better! I promise by the end of the session you will have felt like you just walked out of a vogue cover with confidence. I got you.
-
When can we expect to receive our images?I aim to have your completed digital gallery delivered to you within a 3 to 4 week time frame. More often than not I will have them delivered within a 2 week time frame.
-
Do you offer prints and frames?I love nothing more than seeing your images on your walls! I offer prints but not framing at this stage. After I have delivered your gallery I will send you a link to my products offering.
